An update from the archive team, we have had a good deal of interest in our WW1 display currently on view in both the Old Fire Station and the Sandgate Library. For anyone who has not seen it yet we have focused on the young men from Sandgate who took part in WW1, sadly many did not return. The Display includes a replica of the VC awarded to Cpl William Cotter, with information about him. Also a story of Larman Luck, an artist who produced some very poignant pictures of life in the trenches.

We have also been given a very interesting collection of postcards from the early 1900’s which we are at present busy cataloguing.

We are open at the OFS each Saturday morning from 10-12.30 and visitors are welcome to look at our collection. There is usually a member of the archive team on hand to answer any questions about Sandgate.
