Beach Clean 30/03/14

Volunteers today took part in a beach clean along The Esplanade in Sandgate from

10.00am – 12.00pm and collected a total of 12 bags of rubbish which weighed 70kg. This event was accredited for the Children’s University; young people attended the clean-up and had their Passports stamped for their learning hours. Young Sandgate Society and Bob Preedy, a member of The Sandgate Society Committee also attended this community event.

Community Clean Up in Sandgate 15/03/14

What a wonderful morning the weather was with us !! Community Spirit led by Karina Wilson a member of Young Sandgate Society was a great success. Taking part in the beach clean were Sandgate cubs and their leader Sharon Humphries and KE Links Senior Section – they have both supported Karina in this part of her project. The clean up took place along the Riviera part of the coast in Sandgate – 72 kilos of rubbish was collected from wellies to lead weights to lots of fishing line. Karina is carrying out this project as part of her gold youth award. She said she is proud to be a member of Sandgate community especially when so many people work together to make Sandgate a better place to live in!

Bird Box Event 07/03/14

Young Sandgate Society held an open evening at the Chichester Hall (this was given free of charge) for members of the community to help make bird boxes to be placed in Enbrook Park.  £50.00 was kindly received from a member of The Sandgate Society and donated to the Singleton Environmental Agency who showed the group how to make the bird boxes and provided the equipment.  A total of twelve people attended and ten bird boxes were made.
